I remember one Polish writer describing a hen as a very ugly, heavy animal with cloudy eyes.
It's incredible how different people's aesthetic feelings can be.
For me, a hen is one of the most beautiful animals in the world. Ordinary, common, doesn't fly - that's true, but it's so colorful. Walking in flocks around the yard, it creates Persian carpets, moving and shimmering with so many shades of brown, ocher and brick red that no other creatures can create.
My "Hens" are reminiscences of stays on one farm, where animals and people create an idyllic, harmonious world that I can't stop marveling at every time I'm there.
In this series I tried to convey the mobility, surprise of colors and cheerfulness of this farm world.
