A characteristic compositional technique, visible in some works, is combining images into sets. Sometimes it is one animal painted on several canvases connected in one painting. Sometimes there are several images, conceived as separate compositions and only later put together. The idea of creating such arrangements results primarily from the desire to maintain the natural scale of the painted animals. If they don't fit on the canvas, I either crop the composition or add another canvas. This way of playing with composition sometimes gives me the opportunity to emphasize the value of the observation and measurement which happen in my head  during the act of painting. It was supposed to fit, I measured wrong and had to add some substrate.
