I use watercolors when I want to emphasize the lightness of an image. And flying birds fit well with the transparency and fluidity of this technique.
The paint dissolved in water spreads on the paper freely. It creates forms only partially controlled by my hand, and the rest of the composition is created by chance.
The pleasure of this way of painting lies in the constant interplay between my intention to convey a specific compositional idea and the surprise resulting from the creation of not fully planned shapes and colors.
For me, birds are the perfect heroes of this game. Flashing quickly in front of my eyes, they encourage me to recreate this unique event with one wave of a wet brush.
